I asked about this on the Beretta forum, and no one apparently had any issues with reliability with D springs. So far, the only other hammer spring I have tried in my 92 is the factory D spring, which is rated at 16 lbs as compared to the standard 20 lb spring that comes with the 92. Doesn't like crappy Russian made steel cased ammo.
100% reliable with all US made primers and ammo. I did this in my 92FS Centurion, made the trigger truly excellent 6 pounds 10 ounce DA and 3 pounds 2 ounce SA pull. Use the 12 pound spring and Elite II hammer option. If you want to go all out drop in a Langdon Tactical "trigger job in a bag". Second put in a Beretta or Wilson Combat steel trigger and trigger spring. There are 2 other things that can smooth and lighten the trigger even more. The 1911 spring will work fine but it's slightly too short and make cause problems as it compresses with long term use. I've had good success with Wolf springs too, just prefer the ones sold by Langdon Tactical or Beretta.

The "D" spring is the one that comes in a D model (DAO) 92 series pistol. I usually suggest a Beretta made "D" spring first then try the 14, 13, or even 12 pound springs. Beretta is definitely not flogging a dead horse.I have 8 92 series pistols all run Beretta "D" springs (16 pound) or Langdon tactical (Wilson Combat) 14 pound springs never a bit of trouble over thousands of rounds.

The 92X improvements are a great example of how to refine a classic design. A reasonable person could easily have disliked a Beretta from years past, while at the same time being very impressed by this newest iteration. The Beretta 92X suggests that Beretta has belatedly realized what Wilson Combat and Langdon Tactical have been doing for the last several years. However, these problems are unjustifiable and reach the limit of what I, as a consumer, will accept.Īll of the changes Beretta has made with the introduction of the 92X are superb! I would give especially high marks to the sights and the grip Fortunately, the problems are only cosmetic and the gun works properly. Second, the hood over the breech face has poor machining finish.Īt last, all of us have now read a gun review where the fit and finish is not, “Perfect.” I never thought I would see the day. The burr was easily removed, but the barrel is now scratched. First, The underside of the front sight had a burr that scraped the top of the barrel. I’ve noticed a couple problems with the machining. Additionally, there is no overtravel that used to be present in the double-action pull. The reset is tiny, and the pull is as smooth as I can imagine is possible. What were the results? The results were superb. The installation process was fun and easy with the instruction video on. However, I’ve heard so many good things about Earnest Langdon’s Trigger Job in a Bag, that I had to find out. Thanks to the standard “D” hammer spring, this gun would be quite good as it is. The second thing I noticed was that out of the box, a Beretta 92 has a smooth trigger pull and an unusually smooth action when cycling the slide. It reminds me of the Smith & Wesson M2.0 or the Springfield Armory TRP. There is a ton of it! With the new highly textured grips and the checkering on the front and back straps, this might be the grippiest gun I’ve ever held. The Beretta 92X is an update to Beretta 92 series that addresses many of the things that buyers obviously want.
Maybe, for a lot less money, I could even nearly replicate a Wilson Combat or a Langdon Tactical Beretta. The Beretta 92X Centurion Is Beretta beating a dead horse, or refining a classic? With some great deals available, and a $100 factory rebate if you buy in Feb.
